Curso de Latín en Vídeo
Estupendo método el de Orberg y, sobre todo, la magnífica forma de aplicarlo del profesor Carlos Martínez Aguirre. Llevo casi año y medio con el curso de latín en vídeo y cada vez lo disfruto más. Estoy en las primeras clases del Nivel Avanzado, con textos algo más complicados (Fabulae Syrae), y me parece increíble después de trabajarlas poder ir leyéndolas, sin estar con el diccionario al lado. Los que habíamos estudiado algo de latín sabemos que esto, con la metodología que se empleaba, no era posible.

El Curso de Latín en Vídeo es el método ideal para los que necesitamos algo de flexibilidad. Está muy bien estructurado y la dinámica entre Carlos y Mabel anima las clases y además permite que nos identifiquemos con ella y empatizemos. Carlos es un docente excelente y no solamente conoce perfectamente la materia sino también cómo enseñarla. Este método requiere esfuerzo y trabajo diario pero es tan gratificante que merece la pena.

Ahora que nos acercamos al final del Nivel Inicial quisiera felicitarte muy sinceramente por las clases. El método, el formato escogido y la interacción profesor-alumna me parecen acertadísimos. Enhorabuena por la elección de la excelente alumna, ¡felicidades a ella también por su desempeño! La secuencia de las clases se sigue muy bien y son muy amenas, cuestión que se agradece mucho para los que tenemos que compatibilizar nuestra vida profesional y familiar con el estudio del latín y además estudiamos por placer el master en Mediterráneo Antiguo. Sin duda voy a seguir con las clases y espero poder sacar más tiempo para los ejercicios. Me han gustado especialmente los comentarios etimológicos que ayudan mucho a memorizar vocabulario, las sugerencias sobre lecturas o valoraciones sobre otros métodos, y las menciones sobre los autores clásicos. Así pues, se están cumpliendo mis expectativas y espero seguir avanzando y disfrutando para en un futuro próximo afrontar textos más complejos.

Individual Latin Classes by Skype
My interest to learn latin began when I read a lot of Dutch history books. There were a lot of references to Latin phrases that were lot of time not provided along with their Dutch translations. This, somehow, began to annoy me. Not because I dislike the ancient Roman language, but, instead, due to fact that I regreted that I took the study of Latin not seriously during a semester-long course in university a long time ago. Naturally, I had to do something to remedy this feeling of inferiority for not remembering or rather of forgetting Latin. Because believe me, if you're a fan of reading history books, especially on the European history, you will met Latin phrases whether you'd like it or not! Upon a short search on google, Carlos' Classics at Home web site turned up. It does not take much time of considering for me to finally decide that Carlos would be the tutor from which I'd study Latin from. Eventhough he's a very desciplined teacher, he'll gladly spend extra more time with you during your sessions to explain unresolved Latin grammars and vocabularies that you might have. He genereously provided me with Latin textbooks and exercise books, pro deo. (Fabulae Syrae by Luigi Miraglia, Nova Exercita Latina, Familia Romana by Hans H. Ørberg and others). Students could also use his online exercices on his website gratis. I still remembered my first Skype session with Carlos reading the first chapter of Ørberg's "Familia Romana". It was my first time in more than a decade to learn Latin again. I was nervous and afraid of not understanding the text at all. However, he kept asking me questions to make sure that I understand the texts that we were reading. I did finish all the XXXV chapters of Familia Romana and the second half of Fabulae Syrae textbook which has XXXIV chapters. You'd have a lot of Latin learned just from these two books, not to mention the exercices which were a lot! You'd be feeling proficient, if not at least to have the confidence to work around Latin texts in reading, listening and writing by the end of these two books. Learning a new language by Natural Method might not be everyone, but for me it worked because it forced me to be engaged in my learning with all aspects of learning a language. The course is a lot of work, but I feel now very comfortable reading and writing Latin texts. Lastly, I can guarantee you that you'd be comfortable reading Biblia Sacra juxta Vulgatam Clementinam if you'd just finish reading Familia Romana and Fabulae Syrae.
